Heartsong, Inc. makes art, dance/movement and music therapies accessible to everyone!
We believe that all individuals, regardless of their abilities or background, deserve access to the healing power of the arts. That’s why we offer creative arts therapy programs in a welcoming community setting, breaking down the barriers that often prevent individuals with developmental disabilities from accessing these vital services.

Our Impact
Heartsong’s commitment to serving individuals with developmental disabilities has been recognized by numerous organizations and individuals, including the governor of New York, the Westchester County Executive, and the City of Yonkers. We remain dedicated to providing high-quality creative arts therapy programs that help individuals reach their highest potential in an atmosphere of joy and support.
Our Story
Heartsong was founded in 1992 by Gayle and Tom Cratty, who witnessed the transformative power of music therapy firsthand with their daughter Jennifer. Inspired by her progress, they created Heartsong to make these therapies accessible to all families in the community.
Our Growth & Evolution
Over the years, Heartsong has grown and evolved to meet the needs of our community. Here are some key milestones in our journey:

- 2009: Heartsong relocates its Concordia College location to Westchester School 29 in Yonkers, NY.
- 2010: A sliding scholarship scale is implemented to ensure accessibility for all families.
- 2011: Heartsong relocates its administrative office to Family Services of Westchester and its Good Counsel Academy, White Plains service location to Family Services of Westchester, Prime Time on North Street.
- 2012: All programming and administrative offices are consolidated to a dedicated space at 277 Martine Avenue in White Plains, NY.
- 2013: Heartsong expands its services to include Dance Movement therapy.
- 2015: Heartsong updates its’ mission to include service provision for people of all ages.
- 2018: Heartsong incorporates Self-Direction funding sources
Since our inception, we’ve helped over 2,500 children and adults with developmental disabilities reach their full potential through the joy of music and art. We’ve also expanded our reach to provide services in schools and community-based programs throughout the Tri-State area.
